74th Golden Globe Awards baru saja digelar pada 8 Januari 2017 (waktu Amerika Serikat). Acara yang berlangsung di Beverly Hilton Hotel ini dipandu oleh Jimmy Fallon dan disiarkan di lebih dari 236 negara. Sebanyak 25 kategori dinilai dengan 5 nomine di setiap kategori. Tahun ini, La La Land cukup berjaya dengan masuk sebagia nomine dalam 7 kategori sekaligus, di antaranya adalah Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, dan Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture. Selain La La Land, yang Moonligt juga secara mengejutkan berhasil masuk dalam 6 kategori, termasuk Best Motion Picture – Drama dan Best Director – Motion Picture.
Lion garapan Garth Davis juga berhasil masuk dalam 4 kategori, termasuk Best Motion Picture – Drama. Selain itu, film drama Manchester by the Sea dan film komedi Florence Foster Jenkins juga masing-masing masuk dalam 5 dan 4 kategori.
